Preparation Information
Following is general preparation information for persons or groups wanting to record at 13th-Track.
- Be well practiced and prepared to record.
- New strings and drumheads are highly recommended per recording session.
- You must bring your own instrument tuner.
- Be well rested, completely sober and drugless... ok semi sober and drugless.
- Smoking is not permitted in the studio. You can smoke outside if you need to though.
- Groupies have their own room to chill. So come one, come all. Just don't get in the way!
- Guest engineers must first be approved and preflighted -(rates are the same).
- If you have a preferred vocal mic - don't hesitate to bring it.
- Be prepared to be flexible and "cool"; 13th-Track is committed to giving you a fair deal.
- Every hour or so, there will be a "air condition" break.
- Setup and tuning of drums are a major problem. Whenever possible, 13th-Track will allow drums to be setup prior to tracking studio time at no charge. It is very important that this be attempted. Otherwise, the band pays studio time for drum setup and tuning.
- Guitarists must bring their own tuners.
Soloists
- For most soloists, karaoke music is the suggested way to make a demo. There
are several firms that provide thousands of songs. The 13th-Track
will be building a library of such songs for use. If the songs
are provided to the studio prior to the recording session, the
songs can be transferred into the computer (free of charge) so
that you will have more recording time. If you wait and bring
the music at session time, you are basically paying for the transfer
of files.
Choir Group
- If your group uses back ground music, the songs should be provided
to the studio prior to the recording session. The songs can be
transferred into the computer (free of charge) so that you have
more recording time. If you wait and bring the music at session
time, you are basically paying for the transfer of files.
DJ/Electronic musician
- Make sure and bring plenty of cables! To record with your system or rig, be prepared to explain your equipment outputs. For digital equipment, make sure to bring manuals for connection instructions. No software will be loaded on 13th-Track computers.
